On July 1st, the National Union of Metalworkers South Africa went on strike. I just so happened to be in South Africa and decided to march with the workers. I learned a lot from Numsa.
The leaders of the march reminded me of all of the older steel and auto workers in Milwaukee. I wasn’t around when all of the workers at A.O. Smith and Allis Chalmers went on strike, but I imagine the emotion was very similar.
