NUMSA to march to National Treasury to demand that it must blacklist Security companies for non-payment of medical insurance and pension fund contributions 29 October 2025

The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) will be marching to the offices of the National Treasury in Pretoria to demand that government must stop doing business with security companies that are not complying with collective agreements. It is a disgrace that workers in the security sector must protest for what is lawfully and rightfully theirs.

Security companies are defrauding workers by deducting money for medical insurance and pension fund, but not paying it over to the service provider. This means that when workers have to claim for medical insurance or pension fund, there are not enough funds or no funds at all.

NUMSA is taking this issue to the National Treasury because it has the power to revoke these contracts, and blacklist companies that are failing to comply. There are a number of companies that are not complying with the National Bargaining Council for the Private Security Sector (NBCPSS). Some of the companies that are non-compliant include Modise Security; Mjayeli Security; Kya Guard Security and Urban Ithuba Security.

A memorandum of demands will be handed to a representative from the National Treasury, the media is invited.

Details are as follows:

Date: Friday 31 October 2025

Time: 9AM

Gathering venue:  Old Putco Bus Depot, Marabastad

Final destination: Old Reserve Bank Building, 40 Church Square, Pretoria Central, Pretoria, 0002

Ends.
