Press Alert:
NUMSA PRESIDENT TO ADDRESS THE WREATH LAYING CEREMONY IN HONOUR OF THE LATE NUMSA ORGANIZER CDE SAM NTULI
2 September 2011
CEDRIC GINA, NUMSA President and COSATU CEC Member will address the wreath laying ceremony in honour of the late NUMSA Organizer SAM NTULI, who was murdered 20 years ago during the heights of apartheid repression and low-intensity warfare unleashed by the apartheid regime in cahoots with Inkatha warlords.
Cde SAM NTULI remains a symbol of apartheid violence that was meted against trade union movement and the democratic forces by those who stood opposed to a democratic, non-racial, non-sexist and prosperous South Africa. His contribution to the struggle continues to inspire workers and the broad democratic movement to achieve the strategic goals of the National Democratic Revolution (NDR) as encapsulated in the Freedom Charter.
Cde SAM NTULI, may be gone, but his ideas are still with us, as we struggle for the nationalisation of strategic sectors of our economy, as we rally workers for a New Growth Path (NGP) that breaks awaHey from conservative and neo-liberal policies that have plunged the country into the triple crisis of poverty, unemployment and inequalities, as we advance towards the mass roll-out of the National alth Insurance Scheme (NHI).
NUMSA President will pay tribute to this great revolutionary martyr, organizer par excellence, organic intellectual and servant of the working class amidst the opportunistic characterization of NUMSA as a ‘Workerist’ trade union.
The NUMSA President will speak about the NUMSA of Sam Ntuli, Vuyisile Mini, Mbuyiselo Ngwenda, Jabulile Ndlovu, John Gomomo, Mthuthuzeli Tom and other great trade unionists that emerged from this respected metalworkers union in the liberation movement as led by the ANC and the vanguard party of the working class, the SACP.
The Alliance leaders, such as ANC Provincial Chairperson Cde(s) Paul Mashatile, ANC NEC Nomvula Mokonyane, ANC NEC Enoch Godongwana, Ekurhuleni Executive Mayor Mondli Gungubele and SANCO Provincial Chairperson Aubrey Nxumalo will all attend the wreath-laying ceremony.
