
The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) will be picketing outside the offices of Denel in Irene, Centurion, to expose the company for refusing to grant workers their wage increases. It is deeply angering for our members to have to continuously protest in order to get what rightfully belongs to them.
Workers at Denel have endured the worst suffering. During lockdown the company went under business rescue and for months workers did not receive any salaries at all. Management has refused to grant salary increases for the last five financial years. Workers at Denel have suffered unbelievable cruelty at the hands of the board and by extension, government, which has been attempting to privatize the entity,
Workers at Denel have been exposed to very painful salary cutbacks which have left many of them financially and psychologically devastated.
NUMSA members will be picketing at the offices of Denel. At the same time the leadership will be engaging with the board on this issue.
