Did you know that there is R129 million in the Merseta's Discretionary Grant Fund just waiting for your company to access it! This money is available for training in the following areas:

Adult Basic Education and Training R700 per learner for each level Recognition of Prior Learning R250 per assessment per learner; R700 to train an assessor Employment Equity R300 per learner (awareness on EE, career advancement for designated groups) Information Technology R700 per learner per programme Health, Safety and Environment R400 per learner Apprenticeships R16 350 per learner (metal – including ATRAMI) R16 350 per learner (motor – time based) R4000 per learner (motor – CMBT) HIV/AIDS R100 per learner
Any employer covered by the Merseta can apply for this money. Your employer does:
not need a Workplace Skills Plan to get it AND can be a small or big employer.
This is how you go about getting your company to access it:
1. Discuss with your fellow workers which of the training they would like to do from the areas mentioned above.
2. Meet with your employer and negotiate the training that you want.
3. If your employer does not know anything about the Discretionary Grant, the Merseta or how they work, give them the contact details for the Merseta closest to you. (See the box below for the contact details.) The Merseta will:
explain how they must apply for the money, provide them with a Claim form and explain how they must fill it in, explain which training institutions are accredited and how much money they could be granted
