Letters: A word of thanks!

Many, many thanks to our negotiating teams, the motor sector in particular, for their work and achievements. We are proud of you and our organisation broadly.Yes, it was not so easy at the negotiating table. But ultimately you succeeded. We are all aware that the motor sector is the most unrecognised structure in the industry, hence they do whatever they feel. We have been clustered as a weakened division of workers. But employers failed. Instead our masses became much stronger than before. Our position was clearer than crystal. The solution was in the pipeline. ‘Ba boi batjhetthe’.But avoiding strike action does not mean that the war is over. No! The battle still continues. Our achievement was the first layer. More is still to come. The offer of 9% to 14% did not come by mistake. It came because of our motivation and sticking on one position which is our mandate. Your commitment, loyalty, consultation and accountability and support from grassroots level simplify your task. As a result Numsa will be respected by other organisations as well as Cosatu’s affiliates. On the other hand it saves the union’s finances. Therefore the coming shop stewards elections will run successfully. Moreover Numsa will have enough time to prepare for the Cosatu congress without having to worry about workers being on strike.United we defeat! Divided we fall!Veronica Mofokengmotor shop stewardBethlehem sub-local
