At a gender and regional education committee workshop held in March, the problems of poor co-ordination of gender issues in the KZN region came up for discussion.
“We decided that we must appoint a gender co-ordinator because the regional educator is too busy with education,” says chairperson of the KZN gender structure, Gloria Buthelezi.
Participants also agreed that the region must celebrate children’s day and women’s day this year. At the end of April it will “bring in all the representatives from the structures in the locals,” says Buthelezi. “We will workshop them together in preparation for the Numsa Congress later this year.”
