Collective Bargaining: Negotiations off the tracks

Numsa has declared disputes in the motor and engineering sectors.

This was after motor employers came with 36 demands of their own and put no wage offer on the table. Only the Fuel Retailers Association (FRA), those employers that run petrol stations, came with an informal offer of an inflation-linked increase. And they promised to top this up, if the Minister of Minerals and Energy grants an increase on the retail margin (the money from the sale of petrol that the petrol station owner can put in his pocket).

In engineering, employers have offered 4,7% plus a 1% improvement factor plus 1% for the lower grades. So workers on Grade H and G could receive a 6,7% increase and those on Grade A, a 5,7% increase.
