Attire at voting stations

30 April 2004, Posted in News

One comrade was turned away by a queue walker when he went to vote at NU5 Mdantsane.

“You are not supposed to queue with other voters if you are wearing a t-shirt with ANC emblem. Go and change and you may come back,” said the queue walker. Confused, the voter walked away without a word. He went to another voting station in NU3 and was allowed to vote without any problems.

The party agents’ manual for 2004 elections states clearly in Chapter 11 the required attire: “Agents should wear neutral clothes. Candidates coming the station should wear rosettes and t-shirts with a jacket or jersey. Voters may wear whatever they like.”

Prepare yourselves for 2005 elections!
