Alstom workers from in and around Germiston marched in early August to their head office to demand that the company:
implement the Employment Equity and Skills Development Acts
establish a shop steward committee at head office level to meet monthly to look at strategic issues of sound industrial relations between the company and the union.
Management promised to respond to workers’ demands.
