A True Leader

Siphiwe Webster Dhladhla

What a true leader you are You survived tyranny Really you managed to pull through You survived poverty, torture and brutality, Escaped all kinds of weather Tried to see in the dark Had hope where there was no life What a true leader you are

You sacrificed your daily life Socially, economically and physically Compromised your principles Shared every little happiness with us One thing you never did is to give up You strived for freedom Predicted democracy from a distance

What a true leader you are Today your laughter is our freedom Freedom of expression Your anger is courageous Your appearance a reminder of struggle That led to our democracy That we all freely practice without fear Without guilt nor doubts I admire you my leader You are an African thumb and hero I salute you tata Madiba Viva Rolihlahla Mandela viva!
