“New UDF” reports: “sensationalism’Numsa has dismissed newspaper reports over the Cape Town launch of a new party called the UDF which hinted could split the ANC, as “sensationalism”.In a press statement released after the launch, Numsa’s information officer, Dumisa Ntuli said that the UDF was not a party but a coalition of like-minded civil society organisations. He echoed the Cosatu CC’s view that it was not set up to challenge the ANC but rather as a tactical move to mobilise people around the “jobs, unemployment and poverty” campaign. Its immediate task was to “mobilise all forces for the strike on October 3″. One-day strikes in other provinces would roll out after this one.
